Lucy and Aslan

9 1/2 x 10 1/2″ oil on canvas

Inspired by the following passage from C. S. Lewis’ Prince Caspian:

“Will the others see you too?” asked Lucy.

“Certainly not at first,” said Aslan. “Later on, it depends.”

“But they won’t believe me!” said Lucy.

“It doesn’t matter,” said Aslan.

  • Why does Lucy have her hand over toward Aslan? And do the white doves symbolize the purity of youth that enables her to see him?

  • I should also have said that I love this piece: it’s message, mood, color, form, and composition. Beautifully and moodily done.
